I finished this painting last week and shipped to Darnell Fine Art in Santa Fe, along with a few others, including some small paintings as requested by the gallery. Several of the paintings purchased from my show there were sent off to their owners, and sending replacements became a high priority for me--during a time I had imagined (sigh) would be a break. BUT lots of us these days go into high gear when there is an opportunity. I'm really happy about the sales and no doubt there will be a slower time not far ahead in which to relax.
The title of this painting is Garden Gate (30"x30")--the rusty colors brought to mind the fenced in gardens on the edge of the Catalan village where I stayed last fall. In posting this, I realize that I haven't yet had a blog post about the newest book of my paintings.

It's a small book (7"x7", 40 pages) about the three weeks last September that I spent as an artist in residence at the Centre d"Art I Natura in Catalonia, Spain, and the work that that came out of that experience. It's available through me (email me at crowellart@yahoo.com) for $15 (that includes S/H) or through blurb.com.
I love artist books. How many images of your paintings Rebecca? And congratulations on your sales!
ReplyDeleteThanks Leslie--there are about 25 pic of my paintings (both mixed media and oil) plus a few of my drawings and watercolors.
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed looking at your paintings and I like the cover of the book. The image of the cottage near the edge of a cliff seems very spiritual.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a wonderful weekend

Wow, Rebecca, the cover shot is perfectly composed.
ReplyDeleteYou must be thrilled with the publishing of your experiences in Catalonia.
Thanks DJ-I loved taking photos there as well as painting.
ReplyDeleteJust to be clear, this is a self-published book...blurb.com is a great way for artists or anyone to put out a nicely produced book. The software is a free download (templates, etc.) and then they print on demand, any number of copies from one on up.
Hi Rebecca, just discovered your work and I love it. Are you coming to Ireland ? I would love to see your work and attending a workshop would be fantastic. You have inspired me to keep going with art, I intend to fix up a space soon and gather all my bits under one roof. Just keep on being you, all the best .

Hi Liz--Thank you, I am glad you've been inspired to paint! and yes, I will be in Ireland at the Tyrone Guthrie Center in September and also having a show in Dublin that opens Sept. 30. I'm not doing any workshops when I am there, it is just a time to paint. But would be happy to meet and talk--R.
ReplyDelete, thank you for your reply. I will certainly get to Dublin to see your work. I live in cork. Been drawn to colour and paint since forever. The cover of your book is very like the studio of rachel parry in allihies, on the beara peninsula, one of the most beautiful places in Ireland. I hope you will enjoy your time here.
ReplyDeleteWarmest regards

thanks Liz--the opening is Sept 30 at Gormley's Gallery, maybe we will meet then!
