  new small painting

This is Niche, 7.5"x7" done with mixed media on paper. Small but intense. It is actually less intense and more nuanced in real life than in the photo (I have trouble capturing true reds with my camera, for some reason.) It is off at the framer's right now, and is the last of the small works on paper that I'm preparing as part of my upcoming exhibit in Madison.

I've been really enjoying Facebook, and connecting via introductions from friends with a number of artists who are either new to me or with whom I have never corresponded before. It's actually expanding a little faster than I can keep up with..but I know that at some point I'll visit everyone's blog and website and make some personal contact. It's something I look forward to.

Rebecca,
I like the texture in this painting and how the various layers are exposed. When I am painting landscapes I find that red can be problematic . I have discovered that when liberated from any descriptive purposes there is a wonderful freedom in using this color.

Its....rich, ....and sexy, and ....je ne sais quoi. I really love your muted colours and the layering of texture, and I rarely use red in such amounts myself, but I have to say this one is gorgeous. Love it to boot!

thank you both...i just got this back from the framer and was very happy with it--a white double float mat and pale frame. What I also like is that it got me back into doing these mixed media pieces on paper--for awhile after my residency in Spain I planned to, but somehow I didn't--all the materials were there in my studio, but I went back into all oils, all the time. But now the pleasure in making this little red one is leading me back.

Rebecca, I am your friend on Facebook. I live in Belgium. I like a lot your paintings. It's a dream for me. I begin to paint...
I begin a blog too : http://annedijon-art-vie.blogspot.com and I posted this painting on the blog...The Art and the Life. Thank you and friendly

Thanks Anne--I am mentioning you in my current post, hope it helps send a few new readers your way!
