new painting
I'm still really enjoying doing these smaller paintings (this one is Blue Wall, 12" square) and also pushing for stronger and more saturate color. I also have about ten larger paintings in progress, but the smaller ones seem to be what get me going every day. On this scale, changes and new directions appear more clearly for some reason, and my attention seems more focused--at least as I warm up. (Literally...those old cliches about artists freezing in their garrets don't seem far fetched at all.) ¶ 2:51 PM

Rebecca, This makes me want to swap my canvases for panels and go for it. I like the shapes that appear to reveal the rust orange beneath the layers.

Thanks to you both--as for heat, it's mostly the wood stove at this point, and not especially cozy! I have to keep moving around to stay warm, at least in the morning--by afternoon, with the fire maintained, it is usually OK.
A wood stove...oh my, now I'm going to worry about you.
I know that a wood stove has its romance, but please consider alternative heating for the future. I prefer my fave artists to be working without pneumonia, please. :-)

House and studio have had wood heat since the late 70s and I'm healthy, so don't worry! But we are working to get radiant in-floor heat for next winter--it will be a lot warmer.
